What are short-tail and long-tail keywords?

Short-tail keywords are search terms between 1-3 words. So short, popular searches that you’ll try to match and rank on Google for with content that includes those keywords. Long-tail keywords are longer phrases and tend to be more specific like ‘What is Keyword Research and why do you need to do it?’ instead of just ‘keyword research’. Long-tail keywords are those frequently asked questions like the one we’re answering here, rather than the topic as a whole – which in this example would simply be ‘keywords’.
