In the News This Week
Well, we’re renaming the little village we work in here at The Evergreen Agency ‘Bicester del Sol’, thanks to the gloriously sunny weather we enjoyed at the weekend. It certainly made coming back into the office this morning that little bit more difficult for us anyway.
But if like us you’ve had your day’s coffee (or three!) by now and you’re finally raring to plough on with your to-do list, our ‘In the News’ roundup post has probably come at just the right time for you. Packed with hints and advice for ensuring your site ranks as highly as possible, it aims to bring you the past week’s news in one handy place. Here goes…
We rarely talk about the Backlinko site but we should! It’s absolutely jam-packed with loads of convenient info you can actually make the most of. Like the latest post, actually, which looks at on-page SEO and how you can boost it – head over there for a read.
Moseying on over to the Bruce Clay blog now, we wanted to point you in the direction of this post. It asks: ‘What is page rank?’, as well as pondering ‘how is it earned?’ and ‘does it really matter in 2016?’ Make sure you pop on over to Bruce’s blog to learn more.
Meanwhile, the team at Search Engine Roundtable discuss all about Google Penguin, which apparently is not too far off. Find out more by clicking the link above – and make sure you also watch the video from Google’s John Mueller.
Rand Fishkin’s Whiteboard Friday – as seen on the Moz.com blog – is always a good weekly source of inspiration – and this week’s instalment is no exception. In the video and accompanying blog post, Rand focuses on SEO for bloggers – and how you can ‘nail the optimisation process for your posts’.
He reiterates something we know only too well here at The Evergreen Agency: success doesn’t happen overnight when it comes to seeing your website rank higher in Google. Instead, think about a dedicated programme of blog posts, each one perfectly optimised via clever keyword targeting.
If you’re keen to read even more stories from the past week, you can do a lot worse than check out this piece via Search Engine Watch. It went live last week and it features all manner of updates you’ll definitely want to know more about.
One of our favourite sites here in the office is Search Engine Land, which offers a host of SEO tips for anyone looking to rank their site online. Google’s latest business-friendly tool might be of interest, as it tests your website mobile-friendliness as well as your page rank. Make the most of the tool and Google will email you a comprehensive report for you to share with your webmaster team, as well as giving you a 0 out of a 100 score for how mobile-friendly your site looks. It’s definitely worth heading over there for a read, even if just to keep yourself abreast of new Google developments.
And if you’re looking for a new role, guess what? Facebook is hiring! The social network is looking for a highly-qualified SEO – and if you’ve been swotting up on our posts here on The Evergreen Agency blog you could well be well-equipped enough to apply.
Until next time…
