In the News This Week
Well, it’s been an eventful week here in Oxfordshire! Why? Last week saw us rebrand from Evergreen SEO to The Evergreen Agency – and what that means for our clients old and new is that we’ll be adding a host of new services to our offering.
As well as good old search engine optimisation, we can now lend a hand with social media, content, PPC, penalty removals, web design and more. So, if you’re looking for some support you know exactly where to come!
Of course, the rebrand has meant we’ve been beavering away even more than usual here at our Bicester-based premises but, as always, we’ve found some time to catch up on the latest goings on in the land of SEO. Here are just some of them…
We’ll start by alerting you to this. It’s Darren DeMatas’ guide on the very best ecommerce platforms for entrepreneurs – and we think you’ll get a lot out of clicking the link above and taking some time out of your day to read the piece.
Darren’s guide has already been shared quite extensively and it’s because it’s brimming with some great hints, tips and tricks on selecting the right eCommerce platform for your business – don’t forget to take a look.
Seeing as we touched on content earlier (and briefly) in this piece, we thought we’d flag up one of the recently-published posts over on the Yoast blog. The article asks: ‘Should you republish old content?’ and it’s one of the most insightful pieces of writing you might read all day. Apart from, you know, this one.
Another question you might want to know the answer to is this: ‘Do bounce rates affect a site’s search engine ranking?’ The folks over at Search Engine Watch answer that very question on the site this week, with a post that takes influence from one which went live over on Moz.com recently.
If you’re not quite sure what a bounce rate is exactly, it’s simply the percentage of visitors to a particular site who navigate or ‘bounce’ away after only viewing one webpage. Once you know the ins and outs of bounce rates – and why your potential customers might be going elsewhere – you’ll be able to tweak your existing strategy to ensure it works even harder for you.
And if you’re looking to optimise the content that’s already on your site (to ensure those bounce rates aren’t a regular occurrence) you can do a lot worse than take a look at this piece on the HubSpot blog. If you haven’t already added a blogging capability to your company’s site, believe us when we say it’s one of the best things you can do in order to see the traffic to your channels soar.
So, just how do you discover and prioritise the best keywords for that blog – or for your site in general? The team at Moz.com have picked a winner again when they chose this article title as one of the few to make it onto the site this last week.
Summed up in a video, it’s Rand Fishkin’s regular Whiteboard Friday installment and it offers a handy step-by-step process for finding and making use of the best keywords.
In The Evergreen Agency office, we’re huge fans of the Backlinko blog – and this post certainly had us reaching for a big mug of coffee and taking some time away from our work to get stuck in. Featuring a load of really useful SEO tips and techniques, this is the dream article for anyone who’s new to search engine optimisation. In fact, it’s got us thinking about creating something similar to help the clients we work with. Good idea?
Until next time…
