In the News This Week

As we prepare for the onset of Christmas and – very soon – the New Year, we ask you: what are your business goals for 2016?

For the past few weeks, we’ve been sharing with you a host of tips – fresh from the team here at The Evergreen Agency and via fellow search engine optimisation experts around the web – to ensure you’re ready to tackle the New Year head-on.

But don’t panic; there’s a few more tips where they came from, as we bring you one of our very last ‘In the News’ posts of 2015. Here goes…

Another quick question: Do you make the most of Google’s shopping feed when it comes to promoting your products and/or services? If so, you won’t want to miss Search Engine Land’s latest piece, which serves as a handy guide to the platform’s retail arm. The blog highlights best practice in terms of what it calls the channel’s ‘very specific and sometimes challenging’ rules.

Discussing Google’s key feed specs and requirements, the piece offers tips from experts via a convenient free download. On the very same day that Search Engine Land put its informative guide live, MozBlog hit ‘publish’ on another great post on a similar – and equally important – topic.

The article – ‘The Step-by-Step Guide to Turning Link Prospectors into Lead Generators’, written by John-Henry Scherck suggests that while a ‘scary and uncomfortable’ prospect, sales are ultimately key to growing your client base. So how can you boost them? It’s all about utilising your link building team – and you can do it simply by putting the tips in the article’s guide into practice. Give it a go – and don’t forget to let us know how you get on.

If you’re short of inspiration when it comes to attention-grabbing headlines, AimClear has literally leapt to your rescue with this gem of a blog. Of course, a huge part of the battle when it comes to getting customers to your site is ensuring you’re populating your piece with relevant keywords. But a great headline helps, too. You only need to look at some of the biggest viral pieces to notice they all have one thing in common: an eye-catching title – usually fairly short and snappy – which leaves you itching to click to read more.

Discover how the SEO and blogging pros boost their hits – and their subscribers – in just a few short words. Click the link above and get ready for a quick copywriting lesson. We promise it’ll be worth the five minutes or so it takes to read it. Also worth a read and bookmark is this recently published list of 100+ free SEO tools by SEO Nerdy.

Before we go, we wanted to leave you with this. It’s SEO Nick’s post on creating the kind of viral blogs we’ve just touched upon; the kind you see every day on Facebook and Twitter – and always wish you’d thought of first.

‘How to Create a Post in a Few Hours That Gets 100s of Shares’ does exactly what it says on the tin: helps get you the traffic you deserve. We’d love to know if Nick’s tips work for you, so do make sure you drop us an email with the link to your post. And while we’re on that very subject, the imaginatively titled ‘How to Transform Your Blog Into an SEO Machine’ – over on Convince and Convert – will keep a steady flow of visitors popping by your site.

Until next time….

Psst! As The Evergreen Agency continues to branch (sorry, we couldn’t resist!) out, we’re on the lookout for an SEO expert to join our ever-growing Bicester-based team. Is it you? Do not hesitate to get in touch via the site; we’d love to hear from you.
