Starting 2026 with a bang (confetti)

Share

Evergreen Uncut is exactly what it sounds like. No polish. No perfect takes.

Just the team doing the work, solving problems on the fly, and having a laugh while we’re at it.

This episode is a good one. A bit chaotic, but very Evergreen.

Archie turns 21 (and instantly ages 30 years)

We kicked things off with 3 birthdays to celebrate (Archie, Harriet and Lu) on our first day back after the Christmas break.

Archie hit a milestone… 21 years old, which apparently means he is now legally allowed to complain about traffic and a mysteriously sore back.

Jokes aside, it’s a nice moment to pause and acknowledge how far he’s come. Over the past year, Archie’s been learning fast. Filming constantly, experimenting with kit, fixing things, and getting better every week.

This episode leans into that growth, with a healthy dose of humour along the way.

Building a teleprompter… the Evergreen way

Most of this episode follows the creative team as they fine-tune the kit for upcoming session episodes.

Archie’s been iterating on a custom teleprompter setup for the Osmo cameras, which have gone through a few versions already.

The first version didn’t work at all. The second was better, but needed improvement. By the third, things were getting cleaner. The Osmo fits perfectly in place, the mount doubles as a handle and tripod, and a phone can sit just below the lens for scrolling text.

Setting up for the next session episode

After the teleprompter had its final tweaks, Darren started setting up for the next episode of Sessions.

The session being filmed was about how to choose the right content for your brand, and the setup is designed to support that kind of talking-to-camera content.

Capturing something that feels real

Around the office, Archie, Abi and Darren were grabbing shots, moving microphones, pulling out the greenscreen and adjusting positions bit by bit (there were a lot of small direction changes, “higher, lower, left… no the other left”).

One line from Darren summed up the thinking perfectly: “The most effective way to humanise your next video isn’t to say more. It’s to capture something real”.

Lighting decisions and cable management

Next to film a session was Aaron. As the setup came together, there was the usual round of small adjustments. Moving lights, shifting angles, and figuring out what was actually needed versus what was in the way.

Cables were run, rerun, and adjusted as setup evolved. It’s not about making it look perfect behind the scenes, it’s about making sure everything works reliably once the camera’s rolling.

Ads, motion graphics, and helium voices

Alongside the session filming, Darren was also piecing together a new ad for a client, combining AI voiceovers, music, and visuals to bring it all together.

Mid-build, and after a brief encounter with a helium balloon, he attempted to explain the process on camera. This quickly escalated into other team members joining in, each taking turns to describe their work in increasingly high-pitched voices.

Classic Uncut energy

This episode isn’t here to teach a framework or sell an idea. It’s here to show the reality. Content doesn’t start polished. Ideas don’t arrive fully formed. Solutions get built instead of bought. And most things improve by doing, not overthinking.

Evergreen Uncut is about showing that side of the process. The in-between moments. The trial and error. The laughs. The problem-solving that makes the final work possible.

If you’ve ever wondered what actually goes on behind the camera before a “clean” Evergreen video goes live, this episode gives you a pretty honest answer.
