We don’t do things by halves at The Evergreen Agency, and this year’s summer ad was our biggest, boldest, and most bonkers yet. From digging holes to climbing castles, we covered hundreds of miles and roped in half the team to bring it all to life.

Getting Started: Early Mornings and Big Ideas

  • Filming kicked off bright and early with coffee, breakfast, and plenty of nervous excitement
  • Archie’s connections made it possible to get a digger and dig a massive hole (no, really!)
  • The whole ad began with a simple idea: “What if we literally planted Aaron in the ground?”
  • We knew we’d need to cover a lot of ground (and miles) to make this vision happen

Buried Alive: Getting the Perfect Shot

  • Darren’s “big vision” involved burying Aaron, yes, for real
  • The team went all-in, setting up at sunrise and prepping the set for the big “planting” moment
  • 250 separate clips were shot for just 58 seconds of final footage
  • There was a fair bit of digging, laughter, and maybe some mild existential dread

The Road Trip: Castles, Hot Tubs, and Creative Chaos

  • The schedule had us driving more than 350 miles across the south and east of England
  • We filmed on top of Middleton Castle, huge thanks to Roger the “Castle Man” for opening up the most dramatic backdrop we’ve ever had
  • Charging the electric car for the first time was a comedy sketch in itself (range anxiety included)
  • Stops included Perrywood Garden Centre, Joseph & Roscoe’s workshop, and Hot Tubs Oxfordshire
  • Each location meant calling in favours, moving props, and plenty of team spirit

Going Above and Beyond for the Shot

  • “We suffer for our craft!” became the unofficial motto, especially after multiple takes in less-than-comfortable situations
  • Every team member pitched in, whether it was moving gear, acting on camera, or trying not to laugh during takes
  • Hot tub scenes, bikes, roller skates, and digital cuddles… all in a day’s work
  • No one was safe: at some point, everyone was roped into the action

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

  • The office was empty except for the dedicated “early crew” working late into the night
  • Multiple shoots happened back-to-back, often on just a few hours’ sleep
  • Every team member, from behind the camera to in front made this wild idea a reality
  • Shout-outs to the venues and clients who let us take over for the day (and didn’t mind us getting a bit weird)

The Magic of Editing

  • With the shoot finally wrapped, it was over to Darren for the real wizardry editing, animation, and bringing together all those miles, smiles, and outtakes
  • The final ad is proof that sometimes, going the extra mile (or 350) really is worth it
  • Every second of the final film is packed with the energy, fun, and slightly unhinged creativity that defines the Evergreen team

Key Takeaways

  • Don’t be afraid to dream big (even if it means getting buried for the shot)
  • Teamwork, trust, and a sense of humour are the real magic behind any great ad
  • Sometimes the most memorable moments are the ones that never make it to the screen
