Come behind the scenes with us on a creative client shoot

At Evergreen, we’re always striving to deliver the best results for our clients.

Recently, we embarked on a creative journey to produce high-impact ads for one of our roofing clients. I’d like to take you behind the scenes of our process, from initial planning to final execution.

Our client’s Google and Meta ads were performing well, with optimised audiences and ad copy. However, we identified one key area for improvement: creative assets. To address this, we decided to capture fresh, compelling video content that would showcase their work effectively.

Step 1: face-to-face client meeting

Our first step was to meet the client in person. This face-to-face interaction is crucial for:

  • Aligning on goals and deliverables
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships
  • Discovering unexpected opportunities

During our visit to their showroom, we were pleasantly surprised by the wealth of material available for filming. This gave us even more to work with in creating diverse, engaging ads.

Step 2: on-site filming

For this project, we focused on creating before-and-after content to highlight the transformation our client delivers. This involved multiple site visits to capture:

  • Before shots of the existing roof
  • The installation process
  • After shots of the completed project

Equipment used:

  • DJI Osmo Pocket 3 cameras for ground-level shots
  • DJI Mini 3 drone for aerial footage

Pro Tip: When using drones, always prioritise safety and follow local regulations. Practice in controlled environments before attempting more complex shots.

Step 3: creative approach

Our goal was to create simple yet effective ads. We employed two key video marketing techniques:

Problem-Solution-Why Us: Showcase the problem, present the solution, and explain why our client is the best choice.

This or That: Contrast the “before” (problem) with the “after” (solution) to highlight the transformation.

Step 4: going the extra mile

Quality content often requires dedication beyond normal working hours. In our case, this meant capturing drone footage after 5 PM on a Friday to ensure we had all the necessary shots.

Step 5: post-production magic

While capturing great footage is essential, the real creativity often shines in the editing process. Our team carefully stitches together the various shots, creating smooth transitions between before, during, and after scenes.
