Most of us are working for a good chunk of that time and my question to you is, are you using that time wisely?
I ask because I had a revelation a few months back that I wasn’t using my time as wisely as I could.
We all know that when you run a business you have to spin many plates.

One of the biggest of those plates for most SMEs is sales and marketing.
I know it is for me.
When you start thinking about sales and marketing, you don’t have to look far before the N word is all around you…
Networking!
For years I have done networking.
Local business networking.
Agency peer-to-peer networking.
Business owner networking.
You name it, I’ve done it.
At the start of this year I looked at my diary from 2023 and saw so much ‘networking’.
Mornings, afternoons and evenings, I was always out networking.
But it didn’t ever seem to lead to much new business.
Just loads of ‘potential’ and ‘good connections’, as I’d regularly relay to my wife who would quiz me on my day.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I made some great friends and bags full of LinkedIn connections, but actual cold hard cash from the countless hours spent? Not so much.
It got me thinking if I was spending my time wisely?
At the start of 2024 I decided to make some big changes to where I would spend my time.
Skip forward 9 months and as a business we’ve never been busier.
What’s changed? I stopped all of the networking I was doing and focused that time on going to see my prospective clients and creating content.
I changed those networking morning meet ups for train journeys to potential clients.
I altered the afternoon networking get togethers to creating lots of video content that would educate my prospective client and build know, like and trust.
I also saved a fortune on breakfast fees, long lunches and tickets to events.
The reality is we’ve never been busier or had a bigger pipeline and we’ve only been doing this for 9 months, so it makes you think.
I ask you. Are you spending your time wisely?
We only get 24 hours in a day and we need to make each of those hours we’re working count as much as possible.
