How we’re pivoting our agency for rapid growth

If you caught our MD Aaron’s brutally honest LinkedIn post last month, you know The Evergreen Agency hit some major turbulence. Between client budget cuts, delayed projects, and a looming recession, our monthly recurring revenue took a big hit seemingly overnight.

We had to make the tough call to let go of some team members, which prompted an outpouring of support from fellow agency owners who’ve been through the same wringer. The reality is that ups and downs are par for the course in the small business world – we simply chose to be transparent about it.

The challenges also exposed some cracks in our agency’s structure and service offerings that we’ve been grappling with for a while. Even before this recent storm, we’d been re-evaluating how to best evolve and capitalise on market demands.

So in the past month, we’ve made some major pivots to reposition The Evergreen Agency for explosive growth:

  • Doubling down on Paid Search and Paid Social demand for our paid media services – Google/Microsoft Ads, Meta, TikTok, Amazon, etc. – has been through the roof, both from new prospects and existing clients. We’re leaning hard into that area of expertise.
  • Expanding our Creative Services offerings – while we’ve traditionally been more tech-focused with SEO and paid media, we’re now building out a robust creative arm. We’ve brought on a highly talented videographer who can also offer graphic design, motion graphics, product photography, and more.
  • Hyperfocused industry specialisation – we’ve worked with home, garden, and lifestyle brands since day one. It’s our sweet spot, so we’re going all-in on that niche rather than being a general marketing agency. Our positioning is now as a growth marketing agency focused specifically on the home/garden/lifestyle vertical.
  • Strategic leadership structure – to spearhead these pivots, we’ve brought on a Paid Media Director (the amazing Konrad) to own our entire agency’s operations, client services, and delivery. This allows Aaron to focus solely on business development, growth marketing, and steering our new direction.

We know this is just the start of our journey, and there will be many more ups and downs along the way. But we’re committed to pulling back the curtain and bringing you along for the ride.
